Cycle of Repetition
As a human race, we typically learn through trial and error. As a child, you accidentally place your hand upon the stove and the suddenly you're crying from the abrupt awareness that the stove was really hot and it hurt like hell. From that point on, you're a little more cautious about touching the stove out of fear that the same thing will happen every time. We study our own behavior and the behavior of others. When we are given a task to do, we develop a method of how to do it and from there if it was successful we continue to use it, and eventually we find ways to evolve it and make it faster, more efficient and more convenient for ourselves. In this same idea of behavior, we watch the generations before us grow up and change. Our own generation develops its own sense of culture and personality and we grow up with it as those younger than us observe us and develop their own sense of style and life. Now, with this in mind, I would like to brush up on something. Monkey see monkey do. No matter how advanced we become as a race we as humans continue to do the dumbest shit in the world. There is one example in which I would like to stress upon today. If you dislike rants, please leave because this is exactly what it is going to be.
So I think we can all agree that the greatest legends of the era were most likely heavily influenced by alcohol, drugs, sex, abuse, etc... There are probably some who managed to succeed without slipping into these horrible topics, but most of them are guilty of taking part in these things. I believe that these people would be amazing with or without the influence of these things, but I do also believe that the things help defined and create the magical wonder of their masterpieces. Doing these things usually does not result in good endings. We often hear about celebrities who die from drug overdoses. Amy Winehouse is a great example of being a celebrity, a fantastic musician but also a slave to drugs and unfortunately the battle with drugs was the end of her reign.
Our grandparents grew up with their idols who rose and fell to drugs and alcohol. Our parents grew up to people who rose and fell to alcohol. Now, the people that I grew up to and the people that your children are growing up to are following the same foot steps. I'm not one to judge people. If someone wants to drink alcohol, that's perfectly fine. I myself, enjoy alcoholic beverages in moderation. I don't act stupid and reckless while under the influence and I sure as hell don't get myself into trouble and make a spectacle of myself. The same goes for drugs. I won't touch them, because I actually value my life and health to some extent, but if people want to do drugs for leisure and social purposes, that's their body, not mine... why should I get my panties in a bunch over it? The only time where I feel like it's not okay is if it is a drug that turns you into a slave and prisoner of death. When you are doing something to your body to the point where you cannot function without it, you become a danger to yourself, to your friends and family, to your co-workers and to society as a whole. The point in which I care about ones actions is at the point where it inflicts suffering onto themselves, the people around them up to and including myself. If you are doing something and it's not really causing any harm to anyone but yourself on a minor scale, go for it. But when you start becoming anti-social, you start doing outlandish things to acquire money to support your addiction etc.... that is when I think that nobody should ever cross that line.
So everyone I pretty much grew up to are now adults with kids. Some of them are still active in their respective industries and are multi-millionaires and others have kind stayed on the down low and I assume they're trying to live normal lives or just work on other careers privately etc... But then you have these idols who go from being loved by the world and they turn into these rats. What inspired this blog entry was Miley Cyrus. Now, I never really got into her show Hannah Montana, I've seen clips of it enough to get the general idea of the show. I also listened to some of her music casually but I don't follower her overall. From what I could tell she had both of her parents whom are successful considering her fathers extremely popular country music career. Miley Cyrus is this young and beautiful girl who is starting her successful acting career and music career. Now, I'm sure she has her own idols just like the rest of us. I guarantee that those idols are either doing drugs, excessive alcohol abuse or were affected by some sort of abuse during their child life, current life or relationship etc... Now when we see celebrities shift from hard working and positive behavior to party animal junkies and criminals, that is that line that nobody should ever cross. Go ahead, party and live it up. The whole yolo thing, whatever. Feel free to have fun, take risks, try new things, live on the wild side for a little, but why the hell would you get it in your head that reaching that dangerous point is ever a good idea? I understand that the pressure of being a celebrity must be very difficult. With having people breathing fire down your throat about every little thing you do and say being held against you at work, home, the internet, in person, etc... it's inevitable and no celebrity can really escape it unless they "quit" their career for the most part. When someone decides they want to live in the public world, they obviously know what to expect and what freedoms they're sacrificing when they sign the contracts to become actors, musicians, etc... they should also be aware that celebrities tend to become very and popular and then they landslide and become fucking retarded bimbos with money and drug issues.
The reason why I brought Miley Cyrus into this, is because she's developing into an adult. Because she's over 18, she's interested in piercings, tattoos, expression her style and experimenting with clothing and music and life in general. She's at the age where being rebellious is just in our nature. I was a little rebel at one point but I grew out of it. I really hope that she does, too but considering the fact that she's a celebrity with the world at her feet and her personal problems, I don't see a sunny sky heading her way any time soon. When Hannah Montana ended she shifted her music from being these sweet and fun songs, to a more sophisticated sexual atmosphere. For example, her song "Can't Be Tamed" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjSG6z_13-Q, came out and became a hit. This is the first song, in my opinion where you can tell that she changed from this young girl to this rebellious teenager/young adult. Now this is fine, she's just acting like how every girl acts. You grow boobs, you realize you're hot and you want guys and popularity and you wanna have fun etc...
But then she was gone for a while and recently just came out with a new song called We Can't Stop https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LrUvu1mlWco, which is pretty obvious about the message. The entire video is about partying, living life, having fun etc... but if you read up on the media lately, Miley has been in some serious shit. Her parents are getting divorced and such. On her Twitter and such she admitted to smoking pot etc... which isn't a big deal. But apparently she's been messing around with cocaine and I imagine she'll go even further. The lyrics that stand out are "Everyone in line in the bathrom, tryin' to get a line in the bathroom." They mean that people are standing in line taking turns doing lines of cocaine in the bathroom. Miley was caught publicly snorting cocaine off of a toilet seat in a club while she was partying. Now like I said, if this is something she wants to do... that's fine. Her body, her health, her death. Whatever, not my place to care or worry. But it just disappoints me that every celebrity that I look up to and that kids currently look up choose to follow these paths even though they know what happened to the people before them who followed the same lifestyles. It will not surprise me if we see on the news that Miley had an OD or is caught doing other drugs etc...
I feel bad for parents because it's almost impossible to prevent children from maturing too fast and being exposed to things they shouldn't be exposed to until they're teenagers or young adults. But it's hard when there is sex, violence, swear words, drugs, alcohol, etc... every where you turn, on every movie, tv show, etc... I mean Disney does a pretty good job at keeping things PG aside from the innuendos and subliminal messages. But there's a big problem when 5 - 10 year olds are singing lyrics about dicks and vaginas and getting drunk and partying.
I wish celebrities were more conscious of their actions, their lifestyles, their interests and how it affects the people around them and the people that look up to them. As a kid, it was a dream of mine to become famous, to become rich and to be able to provide for EVERYONE in my entire family so that nobody had to worry about money and happiness ever again. But as I grew up and saw all of the problems that celebrities deal with on a day to day basis, I realized that I would rather be dirt poor and happy than balls to the wall rich and depressed etc... However, I know in my heart that no matter what happens to me in my life, I would NEVER EVER consider using alcohol, drugs, sex, etc... to cure whatever void is in my life. I cannot grasp my head around the thought of someone think it's a good idea to get addicted to something to make you feel better. Drinking the vodka in my fridge isn't going to win my games, pay my taxes, wipe my ass, or anything. It makes me feel tipsy for a few hours and that's it. It does jack shit. So if I'm down and out, why would I turn to alcohol to cure my needs when I know for a fact that it isn't going to benefit me in any way possible? How could anyone even do drugs like heroine, meth etc... when you see pictures and videos of how people look and act when they're on the drug, on the withdrawal of it etc... it's sickening. Why would anyone want that or enjoy that? I mean, I may not "understand" how "good" it feels but I do understand that no amount of that "good feeling" could make up for all of the shit it comes with in the process. If I had to sit here and think of anything I am addicted to in the slightest bit, I would have to say the internet. I spend the majority of my time on the internet be it gaming, listening to music, chatting/writing, etc... but I don't neglect my real life responsibilities, my financial responsibilities etc... for the sake of being on the internet. I don't crave or have an urge to be on the internet. I can function properly with or without the internet. I made a promise to myself that if I ever did manage to make it in the spotlight, I would do everything in my being to make any necessary life changes I would need to, to ensure that everything I take part in would be a good influence on those looking @ me. I would try my best to be a responsible adult, that would make positive decisions and to give back to the local community and the world as much as I can. I want to help those who support me. I just don't understand why it's so difficult for celebrities to be like this, too. I mean, I know a lot of them will donate TONS of money to organizations or take trips over to other countries and help feed children etc... I'm not talking about the ones who benefit society and already do positive things. I mean people like Chris Brown, who abused Rihanna. Like, at what point in his mind did he think that hitting his lover was a good idea. He knows that everyone would know he did it and he knows nobody will ever forget. In fact, most of the people I see on the internet don't even know him as Chris Brown anymore, just the asshole who abused a woman. And every time he does something now, everyone jumps at the opportunity to call him out on abusing Rihanna and making jokes about who he's going to abuse next. The smallest decisions that these celebs make have extremely huge impacts on their career and how people perceive and judge them.
So the point of this long ramble of stuff that probably doesn't even make any sense is that celebrities act like retards and the celebrities in the making somehow decide that acting like a retard and dying is a good idea. Humans, you're fucking retarded. I really wish life had a re-roll button and I could re-roll to be a different race, in a different planet within a different solar system/galaxy.
Thanks for reading. Let me know what you think.

Though I do agree that Celebrities need to be more conscious of what they put out, it really is society that facilitates what is put out. I guess I don't understand because I'm not in line with pop culture, but it seems like people just enjoy whatever is thrown at them nowadays. Society is bored and celebrities give them some sort of outlet to take up their free time. Movies have gotten away from having meaningful messages, there are hardly any characters or personalities to latch onto, and acting is all but gone. Music is all digital now, talent is
ReplyDeletelacking and all I ever hear are songs about wanting to fall in love, being in love, what love should be or falling out of love. Little too cliche for me anymore. Lack of role models is a huge problem I think, most end up abusing drugs, alcohol or women and the new norm for any child star is to dress way too skanky for their age.
Thanks for your input. It's much appreciated and I completely agree. I mean, I manage to find the beauty and entertainment in most things but likewise, I'm rather bored with the world. What does the world have to offer? Everything, every day, is exactly the same in retrospect with slight variations on a day-basis but over all, almost identical. The excitement in life fades when childhood fades with it. Being an adult or a human in this day and age really lacks a thrill. I try to enjoy life as much as I can, because I do feel like there is so much raw content to be explored, but other times I feel like everything I imagine and think about is really unobtainable without the time and money required to fulfill those ideas.

ReplyDeleteI think it all depends on one's mindset on life. Where are you at presently in life and are you happy? Questions I'm sure most people ask themselves over and over. For some it comes later in life and they call it a mid-life crisis whereas some of us constantly battle with ourselves to find meaning and purpose even in our younger years. There is so much to explore but as you pointed out, time comes at a premium. Some people have weekends to explore the world a little while some don't have consecutive days off to really get away. I think in these cases especially it's important to find a few outlets to express yourself, entertain yourself, and enlighten yourself. Through these avenues we think about society less, think better of ourselves more, and open new doors for ourselves
